  Planned Giving to Vegan Outreach

IRA's and Pension Protection

The Pension Protection Act of 2007 provides an exclusion from gross income for otherwise taxable IRA distributions of up to $100,000 per year from traditional IRAs and Roth IRAs for "qualified charitable distributions" made during 2006 and 2007 by plan owners who have attained at least age 70½ on the date of distribution to charity. See this pdf for more information. Note that, unless renewed, this act expires Dec. 31, 2007.

Where there’s a will…

No one likes to talk about death -- or plan for their own. Nevertheless, it is important to have a will. You don't need to have millions of dollars, you only need to have a plan. Vegan Outreach cannot offer any legal advice, but we can tell you that, as a 501c(3) non-profit organization, we gratefully accept gifts made by bequest from members and friends.

Like your donations, bequests can be of any size and are used to carry out the programs of Vegan Outreach. There are a variety of ways to make a bequest, and you should consult with an attorney about your will. We offer a sample of bequest language below:

"I hereby give, devise, and bequeath to Vegan Outreach, Inc., a non-profit organization, incorporated in the state of Delaware, the sum of $X (or X percent of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate), to be used for general purposes of the organization."

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you need more information and/or a copy of our most recent audit. Thank you for considering Vegan Outreach now and in the future.
